Temple Israel has accepted the “Synagogue Vegan Challenge,” sponsored by the Shamayim Jewish Animal Advocacy organization.
TIGN is one of several synagogues that will host vegan events throughout the year. The goal is to teach people how to add more plant-based foods into their diets, and to learn about the benefits to our health, the environment, and the animal kingdom. Our first event is on Thursday, October 5 at 7:00 p.m. in the Sukkah. We will explore how Sukkot is the Jewish plant festival. Our local vegan challenge leader, Dr. Nicole Mazer, will lead us in hands-on making of homemade vegan ice cream and date “Snickers.”
