On the 50th anniversary of the film’s release, guest speaker Barbara Isenberg, author of Tradition!, will discuss how Sholem Aleichem’s Tevye stories became a big screen musical, and why audiences from Argentina to India to Japan so strongly identify with a 19th century Yiddish-speaking Jew from Anatevka.
