This class, led by Rabbi Amy Roth, will focus on selections from the first and second Books of Kings (Melakhim) in the Bible. Along with discussing literary nuance and religious practice in ancient Israel, we will analyze the role of the prophet: is he/she a messenger of God, a communicator with God, a disciplinarian of sinners, and also a magician?
Classes meet from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. on Wednesdays. This will be the third session.
The class will meet in-person in the Blue Room at Temple Israel. (Those who prefer to participate from elsewhere via Zoom can do so.)
