Gilda fled Belgium for Casablanca, Morocco as a five-year-old. We will hear her witness of escape, find refuge and living life to the fullest. She is the author of I Went to Kindergarten in Casablanca. Gilda continues to work out and boxes.
The Shireinu Choir of Long Island led by Musical Director Deborah Tartell will present several moving musical selections.
The service begins each year with Holocaust survivors, as well as second and third generation children of survivors, entering the Sanctuary holding Shoah memorial candles, accompanied by members of their family and students from the Religious School.
During the service, we will be reciting names of loved ones you would like to have recalled. If you would like a name(s) read aloud, please sign up on Monday, April 13th at noon.
Children from our Religious School and our Waxman Youth House will sing at the service, led by Hazzan Brian Shamash.
If you are a second or third generation survivor and would like to participate in the procession, or have questions about this service, please contact Temple Israel Shoah Committee Chairs:
