 ephardi roots. During the performance\, Yahala plans to teach the audience
  a piyyut involving Hazzanim Adam Davis and Brian Shamash.\n\nSunday Morni

 n to Piyyut (for children).&nbsp\; Short learning and singing experience a
 s a bridge to Jewish and Israeli traditions.\n\nGetting to know Yahala: Da
 ughter of the small but tight-knit Israeli Lybian Jewish community\, Yahal
 a will sing and tell her personal story as a jazz musician reconnecting to
  her Sephardi roots. During the performance\, she will share melodies from
  around the globe as well as piyyutim (liturgical poems). Her powerful\, m
 iddle-eastern vocal style and contemporary touch create an Israeli multicu
 ltural mix that unites rhythms\, sounds and traditions from east and west 
 for a refreshing take on Jewish music.&nbsp\; Yahala has been performing m
 elodies from around the globe since early childhood\, and performs as a so
 lo artist\, and in various ensembles (such as Tandu\, Tahrir and Voca Shab
 bat) and with orchestras.&nbsp\; She is musical director and co-head of Pr
 ayer in Jerusalem's Kehilat Zion Synagogue\, an emerging community of Isra
 eli Jews of all backgrounds and beliefs\, where east and west meet in a pr
 ayer celebrating the ingathering of the exiles. She lectures and leads ser
 vices at Midreshet Beit Prat (previously known as Ein Prat)\, that brings 
 secular and observant Israelis together for Jewish learning and exploratio
 n.&nbsp\; Yahala holds a B.A. in composition from the Jerusalem Academy of
  Music and Dance and accompanies the Sephardic track of the Ashira Tehilot
  program for Musicians and Cantors at the Schechter Institute in Jerusalem
