Guest speaker: Rabbi Lisa Sacks
On September 11, 2001, Rabbi Lisa Sacks was serving as an Assistant Commissioner for the New York City Department of Citywide Administrative Services. As one of her agency’s liaisons to the Office of Emergency Management, she was called to the OEM Headquarters at 7 World Trade Center after the planes struck the Twin Towers and was trapped there when the buildings fell. She will speak about her experience on that day, her role in the government’s response and recovery efforts, and her process of healing from the resulting post-traumatic stress. Rabbi Sacks now serves as Rabbi and Director of Lifelong Learning at Bet Torah, a Conservative synagogue in Mt. Kisco, NY, and is married to Temple Israel’s Cantor Luis Cattan.
