Robotics From Israel Comes to Temple Israel
TILL Introduce Dr. Amir Shapiro from Ben Gurion University
Recently Dr. Amir Shapiro, Professor of Robotics at Ben Gurion University of the Negev came to TIGN to demonstrate robot prototypes including some with potential military application. A JTA video summarizing the event can be seen below
Dr. Amir Shapiro develops robots that benefit humans and improve the safety and security of Israel and the world. In fact, several of them have been commissioned by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). Dr. Shapiro tought about his fascinating projects, many of which will improve crucial industries including medical, agriculture, military and defense. He demonstrated robots that climb between walls, scale slippery vertical surfaces, maneuver rough terrain and travel in spaces too small or inaccessible for people. Dr. Shapiro and his colleagues are poised to create the first autonomous snake robots that will operate independent of humans, have the ability to repair themselves and build other robots without human interaction.
